Judy S. Newman

Mrs. Judy Carolyn Strength Newman passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. Judy was one of 11 children born to Willie Paul Strength and Frances Jones Strength. She was born on January 7, 1945, in Lee County, Alabama and raised in Fairfax, Alabama, graduating from Valley High School in 1963. Following her graduation, she joined West Point Pepperell sewing towels in the mill located in Fairfax. It was while working at the mill that she met the love of her life, Joe Newman, Jr., an industrial engineer who was also employed by West Point Pepperell. Joe was a Georgia boy, born and raised, in Newnan, Georgia. It wasn't long before they began dating and were married at the First Baptist Church in Fairfax on August 19, 1966. This past August they celebrated 58 years of marriage. Once married, Judy joined Joe in Upper Marlboro, Maryland while he was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. In 1968, Joe and Judy returned to Newnan to settle down, build their home and a lifetime of precious memories. Judy is preceded in death by her daughter, Tania Newman, her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Willie Paul Strength, and her in-laws, Mr. & Mrs. Joe Newman, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband, Joe Newman, Jr., daughter Kathy Sewell (Kee), daughter, Kristi Newman, and son, Joe Newman, III. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Brooke Parmer (Tyler), Matthew Moore (Madeleine), Morgan Moore (Terrell Boston), Nicholas Newman (Cassidy), Camille Newman, Joe Newman, IV (Kaylee), Brody Newman, Hunter Kirk, and Katie Haynes. She was blessed with eight beautiful great-grandchildren: Ellysyn Parmer, Jayne Parmer, Hadley Boston, J.R. Boston, Justin Boston, Mason Haynes, Kylie Kirk, and Hudson Holbrooks. Judy is also survived by three of her 11 siblings, Sara Pitts (James), Faye Daniel (Terrell), and Tommy Strength (Janis), all of Valley, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Matthew Moore, Nicholas Newman, Joe Newman, IV, Brody Newman, Terrell Boston, and Tyler Parmer. Visitation will be held at McKoon Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2024, with the service immediately following at 2:00pm. Internment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
