Anna Lee Terry

Anna Terry, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Monticello, GA on October 23, 2024. She was born in Vinita, OK on December 6, 1932, the daughter of Lillie and Clyde Stevens She was preceded in death in 2012 by her loving husband of 61 years, Gene R. Terry,and in 2023 by her eldest son, K. R. Terry. Anne leaves behind two children, Kyle (Linda) Terryof Conyers, GA, and Candy Grant of Ashburn, VA, and a brother, Louie (Linda) Stevens of Bernice, OK, along with six grandchildren, Dene' (Jay) Collins, Shaun (Sabrina) Terry, Doug Terry, Emily (Ben) Wetzel, Zach Grant and Adam Grant, as well as six great grandchildren. Anne grew up on a farm in northeastern Oklahoma where she worked alongside her dad and brothers milking cows and baling hay, as well as learning how to feed a "threshing crew" and preserve crops from her mom. At the age of 91, she was still living independently, growing a garden and making jams, canning vegetables and freezing fruit to make pies. Anne was an avid sports fan. When raising her children, she was always at a field cheering them on - baseball, softball, basketball, soccer and of course football. She was also a lifelong avid Oklahoma Sooners fan, rarely missing a televised game of any sport when OU was playing. But she didn't limit her love of sport to just watching, she also loved hunting and fishing. She and Gene traveled to Alaska to fish on several occasions, where she spent a day fishing with a broken wrist because she didn't want to give up the opportunity to fish because of a "silly" injury. She continued deer hunting with her son and grandsons until just last year, taking her last doe when she was in her late eighties. When her children were young, Anne had an in-home beauty shop to help support the family, while being available to raise the kids when they got home from school. After the children were grown, she worked at Murphy Manufacturing in Tulsa, OK as their logistics manager and later opened a travel agency (Terry's Travel) in San Antonio, TX with her husband after he retired from an airline career. A private family service will be held graveside at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Newnan, GA, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
