Antje D. Scogin

Antje D. Scogin, 82, of Newnan, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at home. She was born May 28, 1941, in Bamberg, Germany to the late Albert and Marie Fuhrmann. In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband James A. (Skeet) Scogin, brothers Albert Fuhrmann and Jochen Schattschneider, sister Elke Fuhrmann, sons Ralph Scogin and Elton (Bo) Scogin, and daughter Sandra (Doodle) Scogin. Antje grew up in Bamberg, Germany, and was raised in the Lutheran Church. Antje met Skeet while he was in the army & stationed in Germany. They married on March 23, 1962. They traveled back and forth from Germany to the United States until 1968. They had their children during this time. After Skeet was discharged from the Army in 1968, they moved back to Newnan, GA. Antje was a full-time wife and mother on a farm. Later she began to work outside the home at jobs such as The United States Post Office in Raymond, GA, Fabric Outlet in Fayetteville, GA, and Modern Transportation in Newnan, GA. She was the Co-Leader for the Girl Scouts and helped with Vacation Bible School. Antje was so talented and smart. She was great at crafts & was an excellent seamstress. Her skills included knitting, crocheting, and even tatting (the making of lace). She was also great at cooking and baking. There honestly wasn't much she wasn't good at. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family very much and would give you the shirt off her back. The service is Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 12:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt. Gilead Methodist Church, 2651 GA-16, Sharpsburg, GA 30277. Brooks; grand-daughter, Lynn Harrison (Michael); great-grandchildren, Lilly, Ava, and Gabriel; grandson Johnny Brooks; sister-in-law Helga Schattschneider; nephew Mathias Schattschneider; nieces Brenda Neja, Barbara Cobb, and Bobbi Jean Evans.
