Benjamin "Ben" Thomas Landrum

It is with deep sadness the family of Benjamin Thomas Landrum announces his passing from HPV related cancer on April 5, 2025. He was 49 years old. Ben never backed down from his diagnosis and moved with humor and a "what's next" attitude through nearly three years of treatment and side effects, including a full course of radiation followed by chemotherapy, a radical 12-hour surgery, immunotherapy, a high-dose radiation trial and another course of chemo/immunotherapy. Whether you called him Ben, Benjie, Dude or "buddy", you would know his passions and loves in short order: guitars, musicianship, the Georgia Bulldogs, fishing and above all else, family. From his hometown beginnings in Homerville, GA, through his final days in Newnan, he played guitar, fished every chance he got, celebrated football loudly, sometimes had choice words for referees and shared his gift of cooking with those he loved most. His bbq chicken thighs and skill for a good fish fry are the stuff of legend. Ben kept up his guitar and remote-control car collections and his food prep space with the precision of a surgeon. On constant "tinkering" mode, he was in an endless pursuit of making a faster RC truck, a better, more perfect guitar sound or an even-better version of every favorite food. He absolutely reveled in feeding his family. Those carrying forward with beloved memories include his cherished daughter, Ashlee (Mark) Shelnutt, unwavering parents, Freddie and Pam Landrum, loving sister, Delaine (Billy) Newberry, devoted nephews Chris and TJ George, 8 supportive aunts and uncles, trusted friend and bandmate Bryan Lipp, constant companion and RC running buddy Charli, and a nearly endless list of treasured cousins and friends. As a fitting memorial will be planned at a later date, condolences may be expressed as donations in Ben's name to City of Hope. Every interaction with every member of their staff was generous, positive and steadfast in support of the many decisions that Ben made during the course of his treatment.
