Calvin L. Gordon

Mr. Calvin L. Gordon, 50, of Newnan passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 as a result of an automobile accident. Calvin was born January 25, 1966 in Estill, SC to Richard Lee Roberts & Aretha Gordon Holt. His father preceded him in death. At his early career, Calvin honorably served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Shield. He then started some small businesses for a few years prior to joining the Norfolk Southern Railways and held the position as a Locomotive Engineer. He was known as a quiet gentleman with a great smile and some people called him "Cowboy" at work. During his employment with Norfolk Southern, he received his Master of Business Administration from Colorado Technical University Online. He met his wife when they studied at Colorado Technical University Online and started attending Crossroads Church Newnan and he joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Triesje Gordon. Calvin was the greatest husband who brought warm comfort, joy, happiness and always took good care of his wife and all his children. He was the man who knew how to get things done tediously, loved doing yard work, he was willing to try and to learn new things. The funeral is Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10 o’clock at Crossroads Church, 3260 Hwy 16 East, Sharpsburg, GA with Rev. John Hobbs officiating. The burial, with military honors, is Thursday at 1:30 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA. When I first knew him in college until the end of his life, I have seen huge transformation that he changed into a more godly man. He may be a sinner just as we all are, but since he married me, he kept his promises that he would always do his best to be a godly husband like Jesus loves His church and a husband who always pray with me daily. He was a great provider for our family, my best friend who was always there for me, the best teacher who taught me a lot about how to be loved like a queen, who put all my broken pieces back together, who always comforted me, encouraged and supported me in whatever I decided to do. who always allowed me to be myself and has seen my worst but still loved me for who I am. Not only he was a very smart man and multi talented, he was also very wise in making decisions for us. His mindset and concept about life taught me a lot to be wiser, more mature, and more careful in things I did. His kindness and generosity that made me so falling in love with him. He almost met all the promises he made to my mother when he proposed me that he would always take good care of me and treat me like a queen. The only thing I wish he could keep is to grow old with me for better and worse, sickness and health, richer and poorer. I am so grateful to be loved and to have him in my life even though for a short time. He was my best friend, wonderful husband, my hero, my other half who was always willing make time to listen and to learn together. His dignity and kindness taught me to trust again. I cannot describe any better how lucky I was to have the man like him who was willing to lead and to complete each other as one in our short life journey together. My heart still ache and heavy to accept that he is no longer physically around me, but he will always have a special place in my heart. The thing that he always told me that tomorrow is not promising, just enjoy what we have at the moment while we can with no regrets. Thank you babe for loving me, for bringing back joy and comfort and for being such a wonderful husband to me. My other half, you are greatly missed and I know we are temporarily apart until we meet again in heaven. I love you, son!!! - Mother Aretha Gordon Holt - LOVING FATHER TO HIS SON He had an entrepreneurial personality and was very hard-working no matter what to provide for his family. He loved all his family both from his mother and father's side and was very outgoing in their presence. His early demise sadly has affected me. Growing up, he taught me many skills ranging from mechanical engineering to farming and house repair. In return I taught him as well, things such as electronics, how to repair and use computer software and hardware. It is through these little exchanges that I shall never forget. Though his job called him to be far away he was never far from my thoughts. He was the man who tried to do the best he could even in any bad situation that was to be admired. It is because of this I will always love, cherish and remember you my humanly father, Calvin L. Gordon, may you rest in peace. - Son Calvin D.
