Christine Banks

On the stormy morning of Wednesday January 30th, Heaven opened its gates and Christine Banks, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend soared on wings like eagles into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ claiming the promise of Revelations 21:4 “He shall wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” She was 87 years of age. Christine loved her Lord Jesus, her husband Joseph, her children, friends, and adored her grandchildren. She was greeted in heaven by her husband with whom she shared 52 wonderful years prior to his death in May 1996, W. Joseph Banks and her parents G.C. and Agnes Borders Burks. Whether singing in the choir, teaching Acteens, or helping with the bake sales she loved to worship and serve her Lord. While she enjoyed her memberships in the Order of the Eastern Star or the Fitness Center, she also loved to collect bears and thimbles from her travels or of her family and friends. She would do and go to anything to spend time with her grandchildren. She was blessed to serve with Joe in several churches over the years and in retirement she enjoyed the fellowship of Unity Baptist Church, East Newnan Baptist, and First Baptist Church of Newnan. She leaves behind her legacy to son Alton Banks and his wife Catherine, Daughter Carolyn and her husband Doug Boswell and daughter Angela B. and her husband Scott White. Christine is also survived by her grandchildren Gabrielle White, Jordan White, Jonathon and Nici Banks, Jennifer and David Bailey, Michelle and Mike McLeod and Chris Boswell and great grandchildren Connor Banks and Catie Bailey. She is also survived by her sisters; Imogene and husband Bobby Rooks, Elizabeth and husband Charles Gordon; brothers Clinton and wife Nancy Burks, Harold and wife Betty Burks, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life and home going will be on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Newnan. Officiating will be Dr. Jimmy Patterson, Reverend Frank Powers and Reverend Winston Skinner. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Doug Bowles, Henry Colomb, Bill McKenzie, Bill Sewell, Robert Tolleson and Tom Corker.
