Dennis James Herron

Dennis James Herron, age 61, departed this life May 24, 2012. He was surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 40 years, Martha Herron; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Herron; his beloved children, Christie H. Crouch (Tracy), Jason D. Herron; a granddaughter, Harper Crouch; his brother, William A. Herron (Sandra), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Herron, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. William Heaton; Visitation will be from 12 o’clock PM until service time on Saturday, May 26, 2012 with the memorial service to begin at 1 o’clock PM in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Price officiating. Dennis received his formal education through the Jefferson County School System and after graduating from Banks High School in May, 1969, attended The University of Alabama where he received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He participated in a fellowship research project with Professor Dr. Hill on the design for Hubble space arm. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf, tennis, traveling abroad, and helping others that he loved and those new to the family. But most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, children, parents, and family. He was proud of his children and cherished being a grandfather. Dennis James Herron was truly blessed with family and friends who enjoyed his company and his youthful personality.Pallbearers will be Rick Miller, Cole Herron, Terry House, Sr., Frank E. Summers, III, Terry House, Jr., and Gergory J. Murphy. The family wishes to thank Dennis’s care team: Doctors at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, doctors and nurses at Gentiva Hospice and especially Dr. Vijay Patel for their continuous support.
