Doris L. Lassetter

Mrs. Doris Louise Lassetter, 72, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 2, 2025, in her home. She was born October 1, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Cecil Earl Roden, SR., and Mary Claudia Combs Roden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Lassetter, and her brothers, Cecil Earl Roden, Jr., and Michael David Roden. Doris grew up in Atlanta and the surrounding metro area. She spent most of her adult life residing in Newnan, Georgia. She was a bookkeeper at Ed's Wheel Alignment for over a decade. Doris was also a bus driver for the Coweta County school system for almost 30 years. She was a notary public for the state of Georgia for over 20 years. Doris was a woman of faith and believed in Christian values. She was extremely proud of her Native American Cherokee heritage. She loved attending cultural demonstrations, performances, and events. Some of her favorite music was the native flutes and woodwinds. Doris enjoyed a good trip. She liked cruises and weekend getaways and, of course, going to the casino. Doris had a love of community and activities. She practiced and taught ceramics for years. Doris, her husband Tommy, and son Daniel were all members of the World Karting Association for well over a decade. She loved togarden and could tell you most anything plant-related. Doris cared for her mother after her father's passing. At the same time, she and her sister took over the care of 2 of her brothers with special needs. She spent the last 30 years doing exactly what she promised her father she would do, keeping the family together and happy. She gave the best of herself to making sure they were loved and safe. The funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 2 PM, followed by a chapel service at 2 PM. Immediately following we will go to the graveside at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, Georgia.
