Dorothy "Dot" Enloe Goodson

Dorothy Enloe Goodson, age 95, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Dorothy was born on September 19, 1930, in Roanoke, AL, to the late Winfred Page Enloe and Mary Jane Murphy Enloe. She grew up as a cherished child and always spoke fondly of her childhood in Roanoke. She was raised with strong values of faith and kindness, carrying these values throughout her long life. She graduated from Handley High School in Roanoke and attended Sullins College in Bristol, VA. After college, she began working as a flight attendant for Southern Airlines, flying on the Douglas DC-3. She made lifelong friends with her co-workers and remained in touch with them throughout her life. She married Charles Goodson from Franklin, GA, on June 30, 1954. Together, they shared 48 happy years of marriage until his passing in 2003. Dorothy was known for her love of animals. She operated a one-person animal rescue in Newnan before there were any official rescue organizations. She kept cat and dog food in her car and had regular routes where she fed stray animals. She found joy in bicycling and walking each morning with dear friends in Newnan. She spent many happy years in Ormond Beach, Fl, where she made many friends. For many years, she was fondly referred to as the "Mayor of Ormond Ocean Club." Dorothy is survived by her children, Jane Bluestein (Benjy), Page Goodson (Mary Jane), Leigh Harris (Sam), and Chuck Goodson ( Sherry). She had six beloved grandchildren: Mary ( Brooks), Chip (Zoe), Thomas, Emily (Teddy), Kyle, and Trent (Sarah); and one great-grandchild, Cooper. She is also survived by two nieces, Libby and Paige, and many treasured friends. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers: Linda Appleby, Stella Ekpo, Dottie Nyako, Aubre Hopkins, and Deb Appleby and to all who offered comfort and companionship in her later years. She also shared a very special relationship with her beloved friend and Newnan caregiver, Mabell Rosser. The family is grateful for all of their care, compassion, and love for their mother.
