Douglas Neill Gadd

On Saturday, March 4th, with his granddaughter, Chrissy, holding his hand and his family by his side, Doug Gadd of Newnan went to be with our Lord. Doug was born on September 20th, 1952, to the late Kitty and James Gadd. He was a lifelong member of Lovejoy Memorial Church and enjoyed fishing, playing baseball for his church and watching wrestling on tv. He worked for many years at the William L Bonnell Company and after that for The Shop helping to fix people's cars. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife Nancy Hopson Gadd, his in laws Catherine and Morgan Hopson, his daughter in law Jessica Gadd, his brother James Mitchell Gadd and a host of cousins. If Doug was anything, he was a fighter and he fought his battle with COPD all the way to the end. Now, he has a brand-new set of lungs and his struggles with breathing are over and he is at rest. The family would like to acknowledge with heartfelt thanks and love the following who helped take care of Doug throughout the years and since he became sick: Scottish Rite Children's Hospital of Atlanta, 5th floor ICU nurses Keely and Cody (Piedmont Newnan Hospital), Respiratory Therapist, Tommy (Piedmont Newnan Hospital), Norman Gibby and staff (Piedmont Physicians Group), Lee Goodrum Pharmacy and staff, and Doug's hospice nurses (ACG Hospice) Nicole and Lacey. Doug is survived, loved and remembered by his family now and always: Daughter Bridget Woodside (Martin), daughter Wanda Gadd (Thomas Beckom), son Thomas Gadd (Stacey and her daughter Ellie), son Jamie Gadd, grandchildren who loved their Papa, Drew Woodside, Tyler Woodside, Autumn Thomas, Chrissy Thomas, Hunter Thomas, Marianna Singleton-Gadd and Josh Hewlett. Doug is also survived by his one great grandchild, Levi Douglas Torres, his sister Jan Rooks (Barry), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and his dogs whom he spoiled and loved, Tracy, Rosie Lee and Tanner.
