Edward Elmer Davis

Edward Elmer Davis, age 76, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, surrounded by his family. Ed as he was known by friends and family was born on March 27, 1947, in Newnan to the late Elmer Vester Davis and Izola Winkles Davis. Ed graduated from Western High School in 1965 and went on to graduate from West Georgia with a bachelor's degree in both business and economics. After college Ed worked alongside his brother, Vester Davis, helping run the family construction business. He later worked for the City of Newnan as Building Official and then the Coweta County Building Department as Building Official until his retirement in 2015. Ed was a simple, respected, and honorable man and will be remembered for his humble, patient, and kind heart. He was strong in his faith and was a true family man. He loved spending time with his children, and he absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would say his greatest joy in life was being a Paw-Paw. Ed will be missed dearly by his friends and family. The funeral service celebrating the life Ed lived is Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan with Pastor Rick Lipp officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Along with his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his siblings, Gwen Davis Neil, Juanita Davis Hawk, Vester Davis, and Eulon Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda Thurmond Davis; daughters, Leigh Ann Green and her husband Danny, Julia Cravey Heidemann and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Isabella Heidemann, Jeffery Heidemann, Johanna Heidemann, Isaiah Heidemann, David Clifton (Candace), Lynn Hardy (Daniel), Railey Nash (Stephen), Brittni Wolber (Johannes) and Jonathan Green (Payton). Ed is also survived by 8 great-grandsons and 5 great-granddaughters, sister-in-law, Louise Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.mckoon.com.
