Edward Leo Shiple

Edward Leo Shiple, age 85, of Newnan, Ga, passed away peacefully at the home of his beloved wife, Carolyn Schenk Shiple, in Newnan on Thursday, December 28, 2017 after fighting a courageous battle with liver cancer. Ed was a graduate of Central High School (Toledo, OH) attended University of Toledo, served with the U.S. Army as an M.P. in Germany, and graduated with honors with a BS in Engineering from Southern Technical University (Marietta, GA). He had a zest for life and enjoyed maximizing each day to its fullest. His passion was to excel in everything and anything he endeavored to accomplish, especially his own and his family’s education. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather, and friend to so many. He had 40 years of fulfilling careers, highlighted as Chief Engineer with Mobil Oil Corp, where he retired at the age of 59 in 1992. He continued in consulting until full retirement to S. FL in 1996, where he enjoyed travel, boating, golf, and his growing family. In 2001 he and 1st wife Pat relocated to their lasting home in Newnan, GA. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Helen Shiple, his 1st wife of 60 years, Patricia Rose Shiple, and his first born-oldest son, Mark Edward Shiple. He is survived by wife, Carolyn Schenk Shiple; sons Craig Patrick (Mary) Shiple, Brian John (Eileen) Shiple, Glenn Robert (Julie) Shiple; and daughters, Kerry Patrice (John) Iliff and Julie Marie Rubi; grandchildren Christopher Stuart Shiple and David Stuart Shiple, Kurt and Andrew Shiple, Kelly (Charles) Lannan, Bridget, and Clare Shiple, Robert and Maggie Shiple, Grady and Samantha Iliff, and Ethan, Neil, Christian, and Emma Rubi; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Riley, and Mark Stuart Shiple. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on January 20, 2018 with a calling period from 11:30AM to 12Noon and mass will start at 12PM. Snacks and coffee will follow in the vestibule at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward Shiple’s memory may be made to Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
