Elizabeth McFarland Kauffman

Mrs. Elizabeth "Betty" McFarland Kauffman, 80, of Newnan, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. She was born January 12, 1945, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Kenneth T. H. McFarland and Mae Kleeb McFarland. Betty grew up on a farm just outside Pittsburgh alongside her beloved sister Peg and brother Jerry. She was a proud graduate of Montour High School and later attended Bethany College, where she cherished her time as a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and formed friendships that remained dear to her throughout her life. Betty met the love of her life, Mike Kauffman, through a mutual friend while she was pursuing a journalism degree at Point Park College. The two married in 1967, beginning a beautiful life together. Their son, Michael, was born the next year and quickly became the center of her world. Through Mike's career with Michelin, the family lived in several cities, and Betty embraced each new chapter with grace and warmth, turning every house into a home filled with love, comfort, and laughter. She found joy in life's simple and meaningful moments: caring for her pets, tending to her garden, cooking her favorite dishes, and exploring the rich story of her family through genealogy. In her retirement years, she chose to settle in Newnan to be close to her son and to enjoy a peaceful, fulfilling life surrounded by those she loved most. Family was at the heart of everything Betty did. She carried fond memories of her childhood summers in East Tawas Michigan, a place she held close to her heart, and she continued that cherished tradition with her husband and son. Michigan became a second home, where she loved to fish, whether fly casting or simply enjoying hook-and-worm fishing with family and friends. She spoke often and lovingly of those summers, and it brought her great joy that her grandson Michael was able to visit East Tawas and experience a place that meant so much to her. She also treasured every opportunity to watch her granddaughter Jessica perform in her dance recitals, celebrating those moments with immeasurable pride and joy. A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, allowing family and friends to gather together and honor the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Kauffman, and his wife, Kim Kauffman, of Newnan, GA; her grandchildren, Michael Kauffman of Charlotte, NC, and Jessica M. Kauffman of Charleston, SC; her sister, Margaret "Peg" Young of Pittsburgh, PA; and her nieces and nephews: Matt, Jamie, Karen, Eleanor, and Kenny.
