Evelyn Joan Folsom

Evelyn Riggs Folsom, 73, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her bedside on July 17, 2023. She was born on October 5, 1949, in Pollocksville, North Carolina, to the late Mr. Edward Nash Riggs and Mrs. Vivian Hardy Riggs. Evelyn was the most unselfish, caring, and loving woman anyone could ever meet. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, companion, and friend. Evelyn had a gift for striking up conversations with anyone and had a genuine love for people. She also had a smile and a twinkle in her eyes anytime you saw her that would melt your heart. Her warm presence will be deeply missed and her memory cherished by many. Evelyn is survived by her daughters; Pamela (Doug) French of New Bern, NC; Kimberly (Tony) Hall of Cartersville, GA; Nancy Folsom of Cartersville, GA; and her son, Ellis (Melissa) Hill of Roanoke, AL. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Crisp of Washington, NC; companion and best friend, Dale Smith; 17 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her spouse, Jimmy Folsom; granddaughters, Jennifer Jones and Heaven McCoy; 4 brothers and 9 sisters. Evelyn's career was centered around caring for the elderly as a caregiver and sitter. She was dedicated to providing comfort and support to those in need. In addition to her career, she was a devoted homemaker, creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. Evelyn was a devoted Christian. Her faith was an essential part of her life, providing her with strength and guidance. In her free time, Evelyn enjoyed camping, fishing, watching game shows, dining at restaurants, talking on the phone with family and friends, and playing with her grandchildren. These activities brought her joy and allowed her to create lasting memories with her loved ones. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date to honor and remember Evelyn's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice- Gentiva of Coweta County, GA. Contributions to this organization will support their compassionate care for individuals and families facing end-of-life situations. Evelyn Joan Folsom will forever be remembered for her selflessness, love, and unwavering devotion to her family and others. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
