Frances Stephens Moore

In the early morning hours of March 29th, Frances Moore completed her life’s mission on earth and gently passed into the gentle arms of the God to whom she had trusted her life for over 90 years. She was born in the community of Enon Grove in Heard County, Georgia on October 14, 1925 and was one of nine children born to the late Alexander Hamilton and Annie Kate Newman Stephens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Julian Moore and her siblings Theo, Ray, B. G. Ed, Paul and Rayford and her sister Minnie Lucy Haines. Frances worked for, first, Dr. Henry Cole as a dental assistant and later, for Dr. Pat Yancey for 25 years as a dental hygienist and was appreciated by her patients as diligent and a perfectionist in her skills. Frances joined Moreland First Baptist church at the age of 14. She quickly became active in the life of the church. She was one who was not afraid to take charge and as an adult she immersed herself in the fabric of the church and served as a teacher in Girl’s Auxiliary, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Her immeasurable cooking skills were a part of every church event, and most often contributed more than one of her creations to each meal. Those members of her church who could not be in regular attendance benefitted from her frequent visits as she took the ministry of the church outside its four walls. After moving to Fayetteville, she became active in New Hope Baptist Church. She loved spring as it heralded the fact that the Braves would be playing ball and she could cheer on the home team. In recent days she enjoyed bingo and Bible study with her newfound friends at Azalea Estates Assisted Living. Frances leaves behind a spirit of good stewardship and love for her family that benefitted her children Faye Salvador and her husband Jim, Joyce Edmondson and her husband Ray, Danny Moore and his wife Judy and Nancy Moore. She was a wonderful grandmother and role model to her five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Nina Kidd and her husband Jimmy. Surviving sisters-in-law are Marion Kelly and Dot Hobbs; brother-in-law Bill Moore. Fond memories of her exemplary life will be shared and remembered at a service on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan. The service will be led by Reverend Doug Bryant and Reverend Dan Akins. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00 noon, just prior to the funeral service.
