Helen Whittemore Jester

Helen Whittemore Jester made her gentle crossing over into her eternal rest with the God she loved and served her whole life on July 27, 2017. She came from a long heritage of honest, hard-working people who settled on and worked the land in north Coweta County in the Cedar Creek area. She lived a quiet life of dedication to her parents, husband, children and friends. She was always a person of strength and even as she aged and dealt with the infirmities it brought, she never complained but, instead, looked for the considerable goodness she always saw in life. Her great joy in life was her bedrock faith. She was one of the first members of Crossroads Church as it was being organized in the late 1980s and at the time of her passing, was its oldest member. She was born in Coweta County on June 3, 1924 and was one of three children born to the late Daniel Walker and Lillie Viola Brimer Whittemore. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her siblings Julia Hester and Dan Paul Whittemore. She also was predeceased by her husband Dannie Monroe Jester in 1990. She will be remembered for her calm nature, quiet strength, wisdom and unconditional love. She is survived by her son Richard Jester and his wife Kathie and her daughter Carolyn Jester Criswell and her husband Danny. Also surviving are two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two of her nephews, Gus Minix and Dave Allen were significant in her life. Her life here on earth will be lovingly remembered and her new eternal life will be reflected on in a service to be held at Crossroads Church on the Highway 154 Campus on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 1:00 PM to be led by her beloved pastor, Ken Adams. Her family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in her family’s historic plot at Faith Creek United Methodist Church on Highway 29 in the Madras Community. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that her life be honored by memorial contributions to Crossroads Church 2564 GA-154, Newnan, GA 30265 for either The Joy Club or the missions’ ministries of the church.
