Howard Franklin Wilson

Howard Franklin Wilson, 86, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023. He was born on September 17, 1937 in Steele, AL, the son of Ben & Lillian Wilson. Howard married Glenda Lee and resided in Fayetteville, GA where they raised their children and later settled in Moreland, GA. They were married for 61 years and what a love they shared. Howard was a Banker for most of his life & a proud member of the Civitan club of Forest Park for many years. Although, his absolute joy in this life was the years he spent in retirement being a part of the community, he so dearly loved. Among those things was sharing his sweet love of Jesus as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Moreland and passing out his fabulous hugs & love to all who entered. He had a passion for plants & yard work & his yard was where you could find him on most days. He transferred that love into a master gardener and spent many hours as a volunteer at the extension office. If you didn't see him in these places, you were guaranteed to meet him at the Voting Polls, where again he passed out hugs and smiles as he proudly placed those stickers in your hand. He also had a passion for travel, which he enjoyed over the years with many family and friends. He was a Papa to 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, who he loved with his whole heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary. He is survived by, his daughter Robin Henley and her husband Jimmy of Fayetteville, his son Kevin Wilson and his wife Lisa of Ft. Walton, FL, his daughter Selena Long and her husband Matt of Newnan, GA His grandchildren Zach Henley and his wife Lauren, Josh Henley and his wife Elise, Hannah Brook and her husband Cody, Haley Willingham and her husband Chris, Jonah Long and his wife Amber, Brenna Thomas and her husband Devin, and Austin Wilson. His great grandchildren, Annabelle, Cole, Ryder, Grace, Remi Gray, Oliver, Jolie, Carter Jade and Bizy. His brother Wayne Wilson of Gadsden, AL The funeral service is 2pm, Monday, December 4, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Moreland with Rev. Todd Slade officiating. Interment will follow at Southview Cemetery in Moreland. The family will greet friends at the church on Monday beginning at 12:30 pm.
