Jerry Aubrey Windom

Mr. Jerry Aubrey Windom, 81, of Newnan, passed away on Tuesday January 30, 2024, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Jerry was born the youngest of eight children to Solon and Sarah (Carden) Windom on August 9, 1942, in Newnan, GA. He was preceded to heaven by his parents and his seven siblings: Everett Windom, Lurline (Windom) Owen, Lee Windom, Maynell (Windom) Hyatt, Robert Windom, Melvin Windom, and James "JE" Windom. Jerry grew up with his siblings in Moreland, GA and graduated from Newnan High School in 1960. Upon graduating, he began his 35-year career in the telecommunications industry. He was employed by Western Electric in Atlanta, GA as a technician installing and maintaining rotary telephone switching equipment. It was during this time he met a young and beautiful telephone operator who would become his wife of 59 years, Willie (Stovall) Windom. Dedicated to his family, Jerry would often spend time with his brothers and sisters and would never miss the annual Windom family reunion or a Stovall family gathering. Jerry enjoyed his vegetable garden and spent many days on his tractor cultivating the earth to grow the vegetables that his children were compelled to eat before they were excused from the dinner table. Jerry also enjoyed his woodshop where he would craft masterwork pieces of furniture. Jerry had a strong faith and was surrounded by his Church family as a long-time member of the Royal Baptist Church in Newnan. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Willie (Stovall) Windom and his children, Tim Windom and wife Robin of Marblehead, MA, and Lisa (Windom) Lendvay and husband Ron of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Sarah (Lendvay) Myers and her husband Luke, Audrey Lendvay, Tate Windom, and Hayley Windom. The funeral is Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at 11:00 am at Royal Baptist Church, 70 Mayo Royal Industrial Drive, Newnan, GA 30263. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan. The visitation is Friday evening, February 2nd, between 6:00 and 8:00 pm at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan.
