JESSICA MCKEE CHEEVER Dearly beloved by innumerable family and friends, Jessica McKee Cheever, 42, of Newnan, Georgia, passed from this life on February 12, 2025, at Clements Hospital in Dallas, Texas, as the result of her valiant battle with cancer and its complications. Among many other family members Jessica is survived by her immediate family, husband John "Alden" Cheever, daughter Margaret "Sloane" Cheever; parents Donna and Pat McKee, brother Patrick F. McKee, and sister Alston Auten. Jessica was a sweet, kind, soul and an angel on earth to her family and friends and is now an angel with God in heaven. She lived her life joyously according to her firm belief that "Every day is a blessing." Jessica was born in Americus, Georgia, July 2, 1982. She moved with her family from Atlanta, Georgia, to Newnan, Georgia, in 1991. Soon thereafter, while still in middle school, Jessica met the love of her life, Alden Cheever, whom she married November 25, 2017. A beautiful daughter, Margaret "Sloane" Cheever, was born to the couple on July 24, 2018. A precocious student, lover of books, art, music, dance, travel, and animals, Jessica graduated from Newnan High School with Honors in 2000. She studied the French language in Paris after High School. Jessica was passionate about higher education and attended Mercer University, Liberty University, and graduated from Colorado State University in 2020. Jessica worked in the fields of law and health care before attending Emory University Nell Hodgson School of Nursing when her illness cut her studies short. Among her many outside interests, Jessica loved horseback riding, and she managed the National Arabian Horse Show in Phoenix, Arizona, every winter. In all of her endeavors Jessica was surrounded by devoted, lifelong, friends that she made at every stage of her career at school, church, and work, and maintained throughout her life. One of Jessica's proudest accomplishments was the loving home she created for her adoring husband and devoted daughter. Jessica was the consummate decorator, and her eye for beauty and her ability effortlessly to bring it into their home brought joy to her family in every season. Jessica was unstinting in the love she unselfishly lavished on Alden and Sloane and that love was reciprocated at every turn. Jessica's family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the many health care professionals who treated and ministered to Jessica during her illness. All of them touched her life and ours with kindness and compassion. We particularly thank her nurse Margaret Baker, for whom Jessica named her daughter, for Margaret's loving care of Jessica during her cancer treatments. We especially thank HER Doctor Lott, as she always referred to him, whom she so trusted and loved. Doctor Lott spent over ten years caring for Jessica and was available to her and to Alden day and night. For all of you, there are no words sufficient to express our deep thankfulness. The celebration of Jessica's life, preceded by a family graveside service, will be held at Central Baptist Church, Newnan, Georgia, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025. Dr. Joel Richardson and Rev. Matt Sapp will be officiating. A reception with the family will immediately follow the service in the Fellowship Hall of the Church.
