Joseph Randolph Ivey

Joseph Randolph Ivey, 76, of Greenville, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and daughter May 30th, 2018. Born in Miami, Florida September 8th, 1941. Joe was the son of the late Tommy and Shirley Ivey of Hapeville, Georgia. Joe graduated from Hapeville High School in 1959 and joined the firm of Norris & Hirschberg as a stock trader in Atlanta. He then enlisted in the Navy where he served our country for 4 years. After his service, Joe went on to work with Eastern Airlines, and then found his career passion working as a Fishing Tool Operator in the ocean oil fields outside of Lafayette, Louisiana. Able to build almost anything, in his later years, Joe utilized his expertise and woodworking talent and established a personal business, remodeling homes. He enjoyed his philanthropic work as a Free Mason and was proud to have been named an honorary lifetime member of the Hapeville Masonic Lodge #590. A neighbor once said, “When I die, I want to come back as one of Joe and Donna’s pets”. Joe will be remembered for his love of animals, his heart for family, his infectious laugh, his big bear hugs, his vibrant zest for life and more profoundly his passion for gardens, landscape design, and an extraordinary ability to nurture plants and make anything grow! In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Ivey and daughter Terrie Schweitzer. Mr. Ivey is survived by his loving wife, Donna Charlene Ivey; children Staci, Matt, and Josh Ivey, and Kimberly, Tracey (Lynn) Schweitzer. Also surviving are brother Billy Ivey; sister Carole Florence and her husband, Jim Florence; grandchildren Camille, Gwyneth, Claudia, Jude, Julian, and Margeaux Ridley, Harlie and Hank Ivey, Ryan (Debbie) Rola, Brittney (Doug) Blount, Andrew (Erin) Schweitzer, and Samantha (Jake) Vincent; and great-grandchildren, Sidney Rola, Dougie and Bristol Blount, and Abigail and Lane Schweitzer; as well as extended family of beloved cousins and nieces and nephews.
