Josephine Ann Clarke

Josephine Ann Clarke, age 95, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2025, in Newnan, GA. She was born November 16, 1929, in Phillipsburg, NJ to the late Charles and Vincenza Sciascia who immigrated from Sommatino Sicily. Josephine grew up in Phillipsburg, NJ. She graduated from Phillipsburg High School and went on to attend Grace Downs Airline & Model School in New York City. She later graduated from Brevard Community College in Cocoa, FL. Josephine worked as a stewardess for Eastern Airlines based in Atlanta. She was also a substitute teacher for ten years at Tropical Elementary School in Merritt Island, FL. She met her late husband, Charles Richard Clarke, in College Park, GA in 1956, while she was working for Eastern. They married on June 22, 1957, and moved to Seattle, WA where their daughter Rebecca Ann Clarke was born in 1958. They later moved to Fort Walton Beach, FL where their son Charles R. Clarke Jr. was born in 1960. They relocated to Huntsville, AL where their son Thomas Spencer Clarke was born in 1964. The family moved to Merrit Island, FL in 1967 for Charlie's work with the Apollo space program, where they remained until they retired to Newnan, GA in 1993. Josephine was widowed with the passing of Charles in 2019. The funeral service for Josephine will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 2 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan, with Pastor Mark Boyd officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 656 Roscoe Road, in Newnan GA. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 PM until service time at the funeral home. Along with her parents, Josephine is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Sciascia, Mario Sciascia and Angelo Sciascia, and her sisters, Mary Zrolka, Patricia Murphy and Rose Albright. She is survived by her brothers, Anthony Sciascia and Peter Sciascia, her children, Rebecca Ann Clarke, Richard Clarke and his wife Terri, Tom Clarke and his wife Laurie, and her Grandchildren, Ryan Clarke, Andrew Clarke, Carly Rider, Natalie Clarke and Kathryn Clarke.
