Joyce Wortham McKoy

Joyce Wortham McKoy, age 87, passed away October 6, 2022, at her home in Newnan, GA. She was born December 14, 1934, in Newnan to the late Joseph Samuel Wortham and Allie Mae Thigpen Wortham. Joyce graduated from Western High School in 1952 and then graduated from the Southern Business University in Atlanta in 1953. After graduation, she worked at Bonnell in Newnan. Following her time working at Bonnell, she was devoted to caring for her family and friends. Joyce was a member of the Providence Baptist Church for 74 years, where she loved to serve others. Over the years, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary, and member of the Missions Team. She was also active with the Soaring Eagles After School Ministry at Western School. Joyce was a loving, selfless person, who always puts others ahead of herself. She enjoyed gardening, making sweet pickles that she shared with others, and spending time with her family. Joyce is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Monroe McKoy, Jr. and her brother Joseph P. Wortham (Buddy). She is survived by her sons, Joe McKoy (Leslie), Mike McKoy (Tresha) and Greg McKoy (Cassy); grandchildren, Beth Kam (Jason), Justin McKoy, Mitch McKoy (Mercedes), Jesse McKoy (Emily), Scott McKoy (Amelia), Callie McKoy, and Brianna Williams; great-grandchildren James Tomlinson, Caleb McKoy, Aiden McKoy, and Owen McKoy. She is also survived by her sister Linda Briggs (Bob) and many other family members and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of Sacred Journey Hospice for the support during this difficult time. Special thanks to Nancy and to Annie. There will be a memorial service at Providence Baptist Church on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 2:00 PM with Dr. Ken Norton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the service time.
