Libby Jo Cook

On August 7th, 2024, Libby Jo Norwood Cook went to be with her Savior in Heaven. She was born on May 28, 1945, to her parents, Luther and Lillian Barrentine Norwood. Libby was born and raised in Centralhatchee, Georgia. One of her greatest accomplishments was she attended all 12 years of school with perfect attendance. Some of her enjoyments in life included playing high school basketball, driving racecars, playing Bingo, quilting, oil painting, fishing, cooking, and being an avid reader. Most recently, her favorite enjoyment included fine dining at Fried Tomato Buffet and having her sweets and Yoo-hoos. She started her professional career at Playtex while attending Carroll Tech, where she received an LPN degree. She then went to work at Coweta General Hospital and ended her nursing career at Dr. Chip Cole. Libby's final employment was as a Rural Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service until her retirement. She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Lillian Norwood, her husband, James Ellis Cook, her daughter, Jo Cook Bolton, her brothers, Thomas, Donald, and Charles Norwood, her sister, Khadra Norwood, and son-in-law, Terry Helton. She is survived by her children Johnny Cook (Sonya), Jenny Cook Helton, Alison Cook Herring (Travis), Matt Cook (Jennifer); Sister, Yvonne Norwood, and brother Paul Norwood (Kathy). Known as Granny by her 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren with one on the way. Her grandchildren are Meagan Hammond Mooney (Jonathan), Sunni Cook Millican (Kyle), Savannah Cook Meacham (Brandon), Taylor Helton (Jill), Katie Helton Hudson (Jason), Autumn Stevens Wade (Barry), Drew Stevens, Matty Blumenthal (Raisa), Cody Chapman (Amaris), Hunter Herring (Megan), Hannah Herring, Claire Cook, Meagan Gosdin. Great-grandchildren are as followed, Lexie, Layni Grace, Layla, Rhett, Berkli Kate, Kynli, Halli, Isaac, Tuff, Ellis Ann, Tripp, Lucas, Klay, Aubree Jo, Amos, Zane, Olivia, Reid, Sebastian, Galileo, Na'amah, Josiah, Evelyn, Archer, and Caleb. The Service will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Mckoon Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Couch officiating. The family will greet friends at 1:00 pm until service time. Pallbearers will be Taylor Helton, Tuff Hudson, Hunter Herring, Cody Chapman, Matty Blumenthal, Lucas Cassidy, and Caleb Gosdin. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Georgia. Contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in lieu of flowers.
