Marie Cals Reynolds

Marie C. Reynolds, age 97, died on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Marie was born in Palo Alto, California to the late Joseph Maurice Cals and Buena Melvin Cals on December 2, 1928. Marie grew up in Oakland, California, working from an early age in her father's drugstore. She spent many years as a pharmacy assistant for several pharmacies before embarking on a successful career as an employment placement counselor with a personnel agency in Concord, California. In 1967, an opportunity with Care, Inc. brought her and her daughter, Nancy, to Atlanta, Georgia. She later worked briefly with a construction company involved in building many of the original homes in Newnan Pines. Her greatest professional joy, however, was found in sales at Hollberg's Furniture in Senoia, Georgia, where she was finally able to pursue her love of fine furniture and design. Anyone who knew Marie knew of her deep appreciation for beautiful wood finishes and thoughtful craftsmanship. In 1968, Marie married Lloyd Reynolds, and together they made their home in Newnan where Lloyd served as vice-president and general manager of the William L. Bonnell Company. They shared a love of travel and enjoyed discovering wherever curiosity led them. Marie had a remarkable ability to connect with people through shared memories of places across the United States. Marie was deeply shaped by growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area during World War II. She generously shared her knowledge and personal reflections on the war. After 45 years in Georgia, Marie moved to Cincinnati, where she and her daughter, Nancy Lang, were blessed to spend treasured time together. Marie treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, a trusted friend, and a woman who lived a long and meaningful life. May we all be inspired by her example and be so fortunate as to live as fully and graciously as she did. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd L. Reynolds, and brother, Raymond Maurice Cals. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ann Lang, of Cincinnati, Ohio.
