Myrtle Gay Norton

Myrtle Gay Norton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Christ, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 97. Born in 1928 in Cordova, Alabama, and raised in LaGrange, Georgia, Myrtle lived a life marked by deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her faith and to her family. Myrt loved Jesus with all her heart and extended that love to everyone she met. She had a heart of gold, always ready to care, to comfort, and to encourage. Her kindness and warmth left an impression on countless lives, and her legacy of compassion and faith will live on in those who had the privilege of knowing her. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert Lane (Bob) Norton, and a loving mother to her children, including her precious baby, Lynn, who preceded her in death. She leaves behind four daughters who were the pride of her life: Beth Norton (husband Norman Fant), Pam Morris (husband Don Morris), Laura Gray, and Margaret Norton. Myrtle was a cherished grandmother to Rob Gardin, Mandy Motter, Rebecca Fant, and Rachel Fant, and a proud great-grandmother to Ryan Morris and Ember Motter. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into each generation with endless love and care. A lover of God's creation, Myrtle found great joy in gardening-nurturing her flowers with the same tenderness she showed to those around her. She also had a special place in her heart for animals and was known for the way she cared for them with gentleness and affection. Though she will be deeply missed here on earth, we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace, reunited in Heaven with her beloved Bob, her sweet Lynn, and in the eternal presence of Jesus. Her life was a beautiful reflection of grace, love, and faith. We thank God for the gift of her life and the impact she made in ours. The funeral service celebrating the life Myrtle lived is Friday, June 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. The burial service will follow the service at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange, GA at 3:30 PM.
