Pam Ferrell Clemons

" I Hope You Dance" was a favorite song of Pam Ferrell Clemons. It set the mood in which she approached her life. Every day was a gift to be enjoyed. She even chose it for her mother and son dance at Eddie and Erin's wedding. Pam's life journey began in her beloved Newnan on July 27, 1951. She was one of three children born to James and Mary Broome Ferrell, both of whom preceded her in death. Pam was a constantly evolving gift of the God who created her. She was a woman who possessed a clear mind for business. She entered the banking world at a time when those who made banking policy were recognizing that women were a fundamental asset to the order of doing business. Pam's congenial nature and professional demeanor escalated her career in The First National Bank, First Union Bank and later, The Bank of Coweta. She embraced the social aspects of doing business in her community and was an active part of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce and The Newnan Kiwanis Club. She also served on the board of The Coweta-Fayette EMC. While she was proud of her accomplishments in the business world, she would most want to be remembered for the unconditional love for God's green Earth and all of those who inhabited it. Pam possessed an innate goodness that tempered everything in her life. Family was everything to her. Nurturing that love was no effort. If an occasion was important to anyone for whom she cared, then that was a reason to make it an event, complete with food, music, dancing, cakes, and, did I mention "dancing"? No one could ever call her a great singer, but, brother, could she dance. Being married to a man with a band must have been predestined. As a matter of fact, her initial introduction to Tommy Clemons was set up by mutual friends. They went to dinner and there was a band playing. If one knew Pam, it was obvious that being graceful was not high on her list of attributes. That evening she fell for Tommy...three times! With the same degree of tenderness Pam used in cultivating her life's relationships, she utilized in creating the beautiful landscape that became the home, Dogwood Hill, that she shared with Tommy. She was all about setting a mood, even when designing the gardens around her home. You knew you were in a welcoming environment, when turning into her driveway, the first structure was a "comfort station" complete with a crescent moon in the door. She preserved those special nature moments in the hundreds of photos of flowers and all things with wings that she treasured in her albums. An important attribute in Pam's life was that of being an encourager. In her professional life, she knew that success just did not happen on its own. She was an astute judge of people and realized that accentuating the talents of others was a key to a successful outcome. She carried that philosophy forward into her personal relationships. Lending an impartial ear to friends and family alike was second nature and endeared her to all for whom she cared. There are countless numbers of those who survive her and, most likely, are paying it forward themselves. Pam had found a great love and just the best friend ever in her relationship with Tommy Clemons. She was resolute in being the best mother she could be to Eddie Royal and his wife Erin, and to her daughter Summer Bryant. Summer and Eddie never doubted, for a minute, that their mother would move heaven and earth to be sure that they had every resource for the well-being of their families. She was a proud Nana to Emilia Royal, Kensley Royal, Julian Bryant, Lyric Bryant, Zoey Bryant, and Jasie Bryant, not to mention she was "Nana Pam" to many others that needed a Nana. Pam held her two brothers, Greg Ferrell and his wife Dianne, Tommy Ferrell and his wife Carol in great honor not only as brothers but also for the examples they set for their families and community. When Pam and Tommy married, she welcomed his family into her own. Tommy has a son, John Clemons and a daughter, Michelle Briggs. There are six bonus grandchildren, Kelsey Hinson, Halie Cape, Jakob Allred, Jared Allred, Caiden Briggs and a great grandchild, Payson Hinson. Pam is also survived by her uncle, Sanders Ferrell, her father's brother. Pam's family and friends will gather on Saturday, June 6th beginning at 12:30 PM at McKoon Funeral Home to share stories and celebrate the life she lived. All will assemble at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at McKoon for a service of remembrance. Pam's final wish in life was that people not mourn her death, but rather that they gather to celebrate the wonderful life that she lived up to and including her final moments in this world. She faced her final days content in the knowledge that the best was yet to come and that she would see everyone again at the great reunion in the life ever after. Even when confined to her bed, she looked through hundreds of pictures to be able to share the most important times of her life with those who remained here..
