Pauline D. Harris

Pauline D. Harris, beloved mother and grandmother passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on December 4, 1940, in Roscoe, Georgia, to Vada Cole Horn and Wayne Horn. She was one of six children. Pauline grew up in Roscoe, Georgia. She was a 1959 graduate of Newnan High School. She was crowned Chapter Sweetheart of the Coweta County Cattlemen's Association in 1959, and shortly thereafter became an accomplished businesswoman, known for more than just beauty and grace. Between 1960 and 1998 she owned and operated several successful businesses in Newnan. H&R Block Tax Services, Express Help Services, and The Postal Center are among her greatest successes. At one point she was the second largest employer in Coweta County with over 500 employees. Pauline was an active supporter of her community. Through the 80s and 90s, she served on many boards including, the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, Humana Hospital Board of Trustees, Carroll Technical Schools, National Association of Independent Temporary Services, Goodwill Industries Executive, and United Way. Pauline was also a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Her most treasured pastimes were fishing, making memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, conducting The Twelve Days of Christmas skit each year, and loving on all of the animals. Pauline was a generous, compassionate, loving, and strong-willed person who will be greatly missed by all. Along with her parents and husband, Dave Harris, Pauline is preceded in death by her siblings, Clara Horn, Buddy Horn, Priscilla Horn West, Edward Horn, William Horn, and Annie Joe Berkowitz. She is survived by her daughter, Jill Helton (Taylor), and sons, Tim Denney (Ann) and Tal Denney, stepdaughter Joni Nicoll (Fred), and stepson David Alan Harris. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyle Gillespie (Lindsey), Ashley Neely (Matt), Taryn Jones (Andrew), and Faron Levesque, and great-grandchildren, Walker, Mason, Mikalee, Mattox, Sawyer, Greyson, and Lincoln. The funeral service celebrating Pauline's life will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Macedonia Baptist Church, 1504 Macedonia Road, in Newnan with Dr. John Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where Pauline and her beloved sister, Annie Joe Berkowitz, will be laid to rest alongside the rest of their family. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan.
