Peggy Payton Millians

Mrs. Peggy Payton Millians, 78, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024 at the Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Born June 6, 1946, she was the daughter of the late I.N. Payton, III and Virginia Jackson Payton. Peggy was born in the Payton family home place where her father was also born and where she lived most of her life. She was a proud Western High School graduate. Peggy retired from the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles after 34 years in January 1999. Peggy had a very active family and social life. She was a member of the Newnan Pilot Club for over 29 years. She enjoyed traveling with her buddies and to the Pilot Club conventions around the country. One of Peggy's favorite trips was an Alaskan cruise. She had also worked with the Coweta County Board of Elections for a few years and loved to joke about being a pole worker. Peggy also volunteered with the Backpack Buddies of Georgia in Newnan. Peggy loved her hummingbirds and encouraged them to flock around her home by hanging twelve feeders every summer. Her family joked that she went through 50 pounds of sugar a week. Peggy also loved her church family at Unity Baptist Church. But most of all, she loved family, her John Deere tractor, cooking and sewing, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Rodney Millians; her daughter, Julie Millians; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dana Millians; her grandchildren, Ashlyn McKenzie Millians, Jackson Caleb Millians, William Tyler Cranford, and Lindsey Faith Elliott; her great-grandchildren, Brinley, Avery, River, Brooks, and Jovie Elliott; her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Susan Payton; and her sister and brother-in-law, Rozelle and Vic Bramlett. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 14, 2024 from 5 - 7 pm at McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory, 38 Jackson St., Newnan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home & Crematory with Dr. Doug McCart officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
