Philip L Fritchey, M.H., N.D., CNHP Phillip L. “Dr. Phil” Fritchey, 69, passed gently into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Phil will undoubtedly be remembered for his easy going, loving and philosophical nature. Phil was born Monday, July 7, 1947 to the late John and Patricia Fritchey in Olney, IL. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Emily Fritchey; daughter, Dawn Vetrano and her husband Ed, son Sean Fritchey and wife Laura; grandchildren, Olivia Fritchey, Pearson Fritchey, Aislin Vetrano, Kelly Vetrano and his loving K-9 companion, Paddy Cake. Dr. Phil was a cat lover and leaves behind 6 wonderful felines… Dr. Fritchey rediscovered his families herbal heritage in the late 1980’s while recovering from a personal health crisis of his own and became a vocal advocate and nationally recognized lecturer on traditional herbalism. For nearly a decade, he worked alongside his wife in a Holistic Skin Therapy and Natural Health practice in central Georgia. In that time, he secured his Naturopathic degree and became a Master Herbalist with training from the Trinity College of Natural Health in Warsaw, Indiana. He wrote the Herbology curriculum for the National Association of Certified Natural Health Professionals, and spent most of his time traveling and teaching the Biblical promise of herbs “for the healing of the nations” to professionals and laypeople alike. During this time, he formulated and compounded the original botanical remedies and corrective skin care products and is the co-founder of Sunshine Botanicals – and award winning national skin care brand. He was a man that relied heavily on garden grown and wild-crafted native plants, and loved celebrating Nature’s abundant apothecary and reaching the medicinal properties of nature medicine with others and teaching medical “self sufficiency’ to a nation that has been disconnected from the knowledge and power of plant medicine and how to use it. He absolutely loved celebrating Nature’s abundant apothecary. He was described as a man that was born 100 years too late. In his lectures, he provided an enlightening historical perspective, and a great deal of reassuring, down-to-earth methods for using commonly found or easily grown medicinal herbs and techniques that were once familiar to every self-sufficient household. While simplifying and demystifying herbal medicine, he was quick to speak about the Loving Creator who had placed healing gifts for us in anticipation of our every need. Dr. Fritchey’s life will be lovingly celebrated Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 2 o’clock in the Chapel of McKoon Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be from 12:00 p.m. until the service time. Interment will be held privately at a later date in Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton, GA. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Phil would be honored if you chose to make a donation to “The Virginians for Health Freedom”, (Va4HF) a non-profit natural health advocacy group. Dr. Fritchey taught his classes on a regular basis over the years with this group, and the funds would be used to help support their small, grass roots organization that provides onsite natural healing education and help pay their lobbyist to fight to protect freedom of choice when it comes to health freedoms."
