Randy Edward Brown

A writer penned the words “ten years from now, be able to say you have lived a life you chose and not one you simply settled for”. The people who knew and loved Randy Brown would have to agree that he made the wiser choice. Randy came into this world in Newnan Georgia on March 3, 1956 as the son of the late Edward Fletcher Brown and his mother Martie Legg Brown. He attended and graduated from Newnan High School. Like many young men of his day, he saw job opportunities locally and began working for The William L. Bonnell company in their shipping department. He served that company honorably for 30 years. Randy dealt with some serious health issues for the last 15 years, but he was just the kind of person who would not let that define his life. Through it all he was buoyant, fun loving, ever an upbeat person who found his greatest joy in being with other people. He had a bedrock faith that made him a dedicated member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. If he could get himself in the car, he would be there with his church family. When work was not an option for him he became involved with the Senior Center in Grantville where new relationships were forged. Around home, though, was where he found his strength as he drew on his beloved family and his pride in keeping everything in his yard neat and tidy; sometimes much to the chagrin of those who thought they knew how to cut his grass! The one constant in Randy’s life was his faith in his God; knowing that His strength would be sufficient for him. And based on that belief, no one would ever hear him complain about his illness. Life was meant to be enjoyed in whatever conditions may have been presented to him. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife Beth Cole Brown. He was an exemplary dad to his children Melissa Allen (and Chip), Lacey Robinson (and Christopher), Marshall Brown (and Delvy). He absolutely adored his seven grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Melissa Joan Phillips. He was predeceased by his brothers Gary and Aubrey Brown. Randy’s life will be fondly remembered in a service to be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at 3:00 PM.
