Sandra Little Cooper

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Sandra "Sandy" Little Cooper, better known to most everyone as "Maw", 78, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Sandy passed away at home surrounded by family. Sandy was born to the late Gordon A. Little and Clara "Cricket"Pitts Little in Atlanta, Ga. on April 9, 1947. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Rick Little and her loving husband Claude Gary Cooper, Sr. to whom she married on August 30, 1975. They lived the majority of their life together in Newnan, Ga. Sandy grew up in Fairburn, Ga. Where she graduated from Lake Shore High School. She worked at Southern Bell for a short stent then started her 33 year long career at Delta Airlines from where she retired in 2001. Her career at Delta led her to make many lifelong friends, as well as start her love of bowling. She was a woman of strong faith and character to whom family meant everything. After Gary retired in 2005, they left Newnan to make a life in Andersonville, Ga so that they could be closer to family all over south Georgia and Florida. They were members of Central Baptist Church in Americus, Ga. Sandy moved back to Newnan in 2008 after Gary passed away in 2007. After moving back, she continued her love of bowling twice a week with the Recycled Teenagers League and Tuf League. Later, family followed her to Newnan where they would live together and she would live out the rest of her life. She is missed by all who knew her but especially her four children, Whitney (Joe) Lamb, Julie (Greg) Gibson, Gary Cooper, Jr., Kelly (Josh) Blankenship, her eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a multitude of close family and friends. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.mckoon.com The family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson St, Newnan, Ga. from 10:00am-12:00pm. A celebration of Sandy's life will be held directly afterwards at 12:00pm with Greg Gibson officiating. A short graveside service will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park, 359 SW Broad St, Fairburn, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to a charity of your choosing.
