Sibyleen Cook

Mrs. Sibyleen Counts Cook, resident of Coweta County, passed peacefully from her earthly home to the arms of her Lord and Savior on December 10, 2012. Mrs. Cook had been ill for a number of months prior to her death. She was born on November 23, 1924 to the late James Henry and Hattie Ester Newsom Counts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted daughter Celon Kaye Cook Cotter; three brothers, Albert Counts and Reginald Counts, both of Alabama and J.W. Counts of Greenville GA. She was a devoted member of Welcome Road Baptist Church of Newnan. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Raymond B. Cook; daughters, Jessica Martin of West Point, and Dale (Jerry) Vosbury, of Newnan; son, Winford (Barbara) Cook, of Newnan; sister, Jan Dill, of Nauvoo AL; brother Hammett (Shirley) Counts, Mobile AL. Her grandchildren are Gene Edwards, Ben (Bonnie) Edwards, and Gary Edwards of Alabama, Chris (Joanna) Turner, of Grantville, Hilarie (Alan) Noles of Franklin, David Cook, and Rena Cook of Florida, Rachel Cook Bair of Tennessee, and Stephanie Fountain of LaGrange. She was blessed with 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs Cook was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. Her family describes her best by quoting Proverbs 31:10-31. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Mrs. Cook was a housewife and mother most of her married life and made her family her priority until her children had left home. At that time and only then did she seek work outside their home. Mrs. Cook was a Christian and a prayer warrior. If you ever had a need and called her you could be assured she would be on her knees praying to God to answer her prayers. Her family knows the sacrifices she made through the years of their raising and how she instilled in them the Love of the Lord. She was an example of how any wife and mother should carry themselves on this earth, The family would like to thank Brother Dan Odom for the prayers and visits he made to be with our mother and father. Our gratitude to the members of WRBC for the years of prayer and concern they showed to her. Also, her dedicated nurses, Jennifer and Carolyn, from Amedisys for the wonderful care they gave our mother during the last month of illness. Our mother would have it no other way if we did not give a special thanks to Dr. Stanley Smith for the many years of care he extended to our mother. She loved him dearly and thought he was the only Dr. in Newnan. Funeral services will be held 11 o'clock Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Welcome Road Baptist Church with Brother James Calhoun and Brother Dan Odom officiating. Remains will be placed in state starting at 10 o'clock. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Those wishing may send an online condolence at www.mckoon.com.
