Susan Lee Sims

Mrs. Susan Capes Sims, 56 of Moreland, Ga passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Susan was born on September 7th, 1968, at Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Ga to the (Late) Ralph Wayne Capes and Viola Crumbley Capes of Moreland, Ga. Susan Grew up in Moreland and attended Newnan High School and graduated in 1986. Following high school Susan attended Lagrange College where she earned her core curriculum classes leaving in 1988 for Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. Susan Graduated Medical College of Georgia with her master's degree in physical therapy in 1992. Susan began her career in physical therapy at Houston Sports Clinic in Columbus, Ga. She then moved to Doerun, Georgia where she worked at Phoebe Putney Hospital as a staff P. T. . Susan returned to Moreland and took a position with the Brian Center in LaGrange, GA as the Director of Therapy. After meeting her husband Chris Sims, she left the Brian Center and began working as an Independent Contractor with various local agencies, I. E. Suncrest Home Health, Amedisys, United Home Health where she found her true calling working with elderly in a home setting. Susan was one of the most loved therapists in the area by all her patients. She was known for her compassion and generosity offering all her patients anything they may need for their day-to-day care. In 2014 Susan was involved in a tragic accident that led to her medical retirement. Following this Susan lived out her life at home with her many pets and animals. Susan continued her level of compassion and care daily with her cats, dogs, chickens, and goats. Susan was a faithful member of Callaway Baptist Church in LaGrange, GA. The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Mckoon Funeral Home 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30263 with Reverand Brad Thompson officiating. Burial service will follow at Forrest Lawn Memorial Park at 656 Roscoe Road, Newnan, GA 30259. The family will accept visitors prior to the funeral at Mckoon Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until service time. Flowers will be accepted at the funeral home.
