Tracy Ann Somolik Owens

Tracy Ann Somolik Owens, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital, with her family by her side. Tracy was born prematurely on March 19, 1966, at McNeil Memorial Hospital in Berwyn, IL, to the late Jerry Somolik and Sharon Somolik, née Musil, and from the very beginning, she came into the world fighting. That same strength carried her throughout her life. Tracy was a breast cancer survivor, bravely facing the disease more than once. After first overcoming it years earlier, she continued to live life to the fullest until it returned in 2023. Through it all, she remained steadfast in her faith, her love for her family, and her commitment to those around her. Tracy lived a life devoted to family, faith, and teaching. For 21 years, she was a dedicated educator who poured her heart into her students and inspired a love for learning in countless children. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her love for her family. She was a proud daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, and she never missed an opportunity to support, encourage, and celebrate those she loved. She and her husband, Joe Owens, shared 36 years of marriage built on love, laughter, and unwavering commitment. Tracy also had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved King Charles Cavalier, Bentley, who rarely left her side. She loved to travel and found great joy in her adventures, with Disney always holding a special place in her heart. She will be remembered for her kindness, humor, resilience, and unwavering love. Whether she was in the classroom, exploring new places, or at home with her family, Tracy brought warmth and light to every space she entered. Tracy is survived by her husband, Joe Owens; her children, Jordan Canady (fiancé Tyler Williams), Kristin Singleton (husband Kristofer), and Sean Owens (wife Christi); and her cherished grandchildren, Magnolia and Davis Canady, and Wyatt Singleton. She is also survived by her mother, Sharon Somolik, née Musil, and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Somolik. The funeral mass celebrating Tracy's life will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM at St. George Catholic Church in Newnan, with Father Stephen Lyness officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 17, at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
