Virginia McCubbin Ingram

Virginia "Ginny" Elizabeth McCubbin Ingram, 83, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her home in Hickory, NC. Born August 4, 1941, in Wilmington, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late John Charles McCubbin and Sarah Elizabeth Beatty McCubbin. Married to the late, Robert "Bob" William Ingram of Atlanta, GA for 54 years, Ginny is survived by her children, Elizabeth Marie "Beth" Ingram of Hickory NC and Virginia "Ginger" Ingram Kessler (David Kessler) of Litchfield, NH; grandchildren John Cole Kessler and William James Kessler of Litchfield, NH and her sister, Judith McCubbin Cox of Rockland, ME. Ginny grew up in Washington DC and Charlotte, NC. After attending Peace College in Raleigh, NC, Ginny was a Stewardess for Eastern Airlines from 1960-1964. In the early years of her marriage and as a new mother living in Atlanta, GA, Ginny was an active community and church volunteer. But it was when she went back to work full-time that Ginny began to "take-off" in her professional career. First, as director of a United Way daycare center, Ginny would later become a hospital director of volunteer services in Jasper, AL and in Mobile, AL in addition to a career as the Regional Training & Human Resource Director for McRae's Department Store in Mobile, AL. Ginny's proudest professional accomplishment came in 1993 when she and her husband, Bob, created Cruise Masters Travel Agency in Charlotte, NC. With a devotion to their staff and commitment to customer service, they were awarded Carnival Cruise Lines' Agency of the Year in 1998. Former Carnival CEO & President, Bob Dickinson would later reflect that among the 30,000 agency competitors that year, Bob & Ginny were "a shining example of what hardworking, focused travel agency owners could accomplish". Throughout the many phases and roles in her life, Ginny's first priority was her devotion to her husband. Bob & Ginny were two pieces of a puzzle that matched together even in the most difficult of times. Their marriage was always supported by their faith in God and their mutual love and respect for one another. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 12 Noon at Sharpsburg Baptist Church Cemetery in Sharpsburg, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ginny's name may be given to P.E.O.
