Virginia Elizabeth Walls

In the evening hours of February 20, 2017, in the presence of her treasured family, the wonderful earthly life of Virginia Morrow Walls came quietly to an end as she stepped into her eternal life with the God she served and loved. Virginia Elizabeth Morrow was born December 24, 1919 in Newnan to the late Marvin T. and Clara Moore Morrow. She was the second child of five children and was the last surviving one. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Buford Walls; daughter, Ginger Walls Waller; niece, Linda Morrow Foster; brother, Raymond Morrow; sisters, Loreen Thomas, Rosalie Kates and Morelle Fernstrom. Virginia had the distinction of being the first employee hired at Coweta Fayette EMC in 1946. For the next 37 years, she would become a great presence in that organization and was the administrative assistant for the manager, Mr. John Hood. She retired from there in 1983. Following the lead of most of her family, she found her faith grounded in her beloved Newnan First Baptist Church. It was there that she gave her life to Christ and joined the church when she was 10 years old. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. Sunday mornings would find her in her accustomed place in church as long as her health permitted. Family was everything to Virginia and she was a wonderful role model to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pat and Curtis Mote; grandchildren, Tara Murphy (Noel Paquin), Chad and Mandy Askew, Kristin and Jason Montgomery, Shane and Mistie Williams, Joshua and Frankie Askew, and Shannon Cochran. She is also survived by her great grandchildren; Codey Williams, Morrow Murphy, Savannah Cochran, Kane Cochran, Ryleigh Williams, Windsor Claire Askew, Parker Askew, Gracie Askew, Jonnay Askew, Trysten Warr, Jordan Montgomery, Baylee Montgomery, Carson Montgomery, Kayden Vaughan and Connor Vaughan. There is a large extended family of nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street where the family will receive friends on Friday, February 24th beginning at 12:00 noon. A service to honor and remember Virginia’s life will be led by Dr. Jimmy Patterson at 2:00 PM in the McKoon Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
