William Randy Thacker

William "Randy" Thacker, 72 of Newnan, Georgia passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife by his side. He died October 27,2022 after a very long journey with Lewy Body Dementia. Randy was born December 2, 1949 in Atalla, Alabama to the late Newman and Marjorie Thacker. He is preceded in death by his brother Gerald Thacker and sisters Judy Bynum, Mona Lisa Thacker and Cathy Phillips. Randy grew up in Gadsden, a graduate of Gadsden High School. As one of eight children he loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed swimming, fishing and having adventures with his cousin Arnald. These memories remained with him well into his final years. Randy is an alumni of Gadsden State community college and Georgia State University. His education led him to careers with Bowman Transportation, Bonnell Aluminum and Kelley Tours. Randy was loved by all and never met a stranger. His love for life and big smile always made everyone happy. He always had a story to tell. He enjoyed hiking, cruises, traveling and theme parks. Some of his hobbies were photography, studying history, reading, collecting movies, and his train set. He is survived by his best friend and love of his life for 43 years, Jane Bohannon Thacker. His children are Amy (Michael) Phillips, Melissa (Ferrell) Davis, Christian (Stacy) Andersen and Janine Andersen. Grandchildren Kaylee Phillips, Brandon (Lori) Phillips, Ashlynn Phillips, Savannah Phillips, Megan Davis, Jimmy Andersen, Samantha Andersen, Catherine Vanosdol and Cassidy Vanosdol called him Pawpaw. Paw Paw also had the joy of meeting great grandchildren Jase, Laylen, Hadley and Jasper. His Siblings Jeff (Deana)Thacker, Kim Boatwright, Pam (Gary)Palmer extended his family further with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Our family would like to give a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice with Shiona, Barbara, Bridgette and Hannah. All those that have helped with Randy's daily care these last few years, we could not have done it without you. The service will be at 2:00pm,Tuesday,November 1,2022, in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home 38 Jackson St. Newnan, GA 30263. Visitation is one hour prior to the service, with a celebration of life at Moreland Methodist Church following.
