Glenn Paul Gruber

Glenn Paul Gruber, 78, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on October 2, 2016 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. A funeral mass will be held at St. George Catholic Church in Newnan, on Wednesday, October 5 at 3 pm. Glenn is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Edith Ann (Holzheimer) Gruber, along with their four sons and families: Michael Gruber and wife Sharon of Newnan, Georgia; James Gruber and wife Sheila of Roswell, Georgia; Timothy Gruber and wife Patricia of Cincinnati, Ohio; Robert Gruber and wife Kimberly of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandchildren Katherine Gruber Stephenson and husband Rick, Anna Gruber, Allison Gruber, Megan Gruber, Thomas Gruber, Sophie Gruber, Chloe Gruber, Hailey Gruber, Christian Gruber, Abigail Gruber, Tyler Gruber, and great granddaughter Avery Stephenson; brother Dennis Gruber and wife Norma, of Cleveland, Ohio, and loving nieces and nephews and their families. Glenn was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 18, 1938, the son of Paul S Gruber and Ann (Karlik) Gruber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marianne. Glenn spent his childhood in Cleveland, Ohio and attended John Carroll University. Glenn and Edyie met and began dating when they were teenagers, and married on Thanksgiving Day in 1960. He and Edyie moved to Stone Mountain, Georgia in 1968 and raised their four sons there. He welcomed four daughters-in-law to the family with warmth and love. Glenn had an excellent career in sales at Campbell and Aeroquip. Outside of work, his true passion was spending time on a football or soccer field with his sons, and later watching his 11 grandchildren in whatever activity they enjoyed. He was a wonderful role model for his sons and grandchildren, with his strong work ethic and dedication to family. He had a lifelong love of boating, a passion he passed on to each of his sons. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, good nature, love of conversation and devotion to God. He had a beautiful singing voice and a love of gospel music, and he truly treasured the everyday blessings of life. The family extends a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Piedmont Newnan Hospital ICU.
