Harry Fadigan

It is with great sadness we share that Harry J. Fadigan has passed. Though always incredibly healthy, at 87 he passed away after a life well lived. Harry passed on 3/4/23 at home surrounded by family. While he could no longer continue this physical life, he was always strong in Spirit and Faith. Harry was a most devout Irish Catholic as well as a tough kid from the curbstones of South Philly. A fact he was most proud of. Harry J Fadigan was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to the late Harry J Fadigan and Margaret Schramm Fadigan. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann and his sister Patricia Ann McMullen. He is survived by his three daughters, Skyhawk Fadigan (Looking Hawk), Claire Brimer (Terry Brimer) and Paula Jones (Joseph Jones) He is most proud of his large family, Grandchildren Teresa Stitcher (Kam), Trent Brimer (Heather), Laura West (Johnny), Kris Jones (Catherine), and Walter Jones (Jennifer) and Great grandchildren Steven, Fayth and Gunner Stitcher, Kali Beth Kilgore, Ember and Asher Brimer, Molly and Mason Jones. Just days before his passing he expressed joy at having the house filled with kids, watching them play. He is survived by his sister Virginia "Ginny" Longworth (Jerry) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Harry Fadigan grew up in Philly but joined the Air Force and was stationed in Montgomery Alabama. This is where he met his beautiful wife Barbara Ann Fadigan, drawn together by love of music, their relationship was strengthened by the strong faith in God they shared. Faith, Family and a good sense of humor was the backbone of this nearly 50 year marriage, Barbara passing in 2008. Harry and Barbara spent a few years up North before settling in Newnan Ga in the late 60s. He was a Dad who had rules and was strict but he was fair and as one of Harrys girls, you always knew he was on your side and his love was unyielding. While he took a job at Playtex for many years, when they asked him to move, he was steadfast in keeping his kids in the community. Harry decided to travel in order to give his family the stability of remaining in Newnan where the girls went to school, had friends and strong ties to the church. Harry was considered to be the Leader of the Band, often playing his trombone with pick up bands including playing for charity and for the elderly. He embraced the leader aspect as he led by example to be kind and giving at every opportunity. Harry Fadigan was a member of St. George Catholic Church for over 50 years and was most proud of teaching as he was head of the Religious Education Department for many years. The kids all loved him even when he was pulling them by the ear to get to Catechism. Harry was a strong presence and positive influence to those who knew him. He will be dearly missed by us all. The funeral mass celebrating Harry's life is Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. George Catholic Church, 771 Roscoe Road, in Newnan with Father Stephen Lyness officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM utnil 7:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan. A rosary will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday. Harry was very generous giving to many charities monthly. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please make a donation in his memory to a charity of you choice.
