Hubert H. Wright

Hubert Hamilton Wright of Panama City, Florida, a long term resident of Newnan Georgia went home to be with the Lord, finding eternal peace and new life on August 7th. 2013. Having bravely fought against cancer, Hubert now stands rejoicing in the courts of our Heavenly Father, strong, vibrant and alive with Him. In his 80 years, Hubert touched many lives as son, brother, father, grandfather and friend. His touch here remains, as he now experiences the touch of heaven. Hubert was born on January 7th, 1933 being raised in Cass, West Virginia, a logging town where the company provided the goods for families and the houses they lived in. It was there in that small town where he learned appreciation of the simple joys of life and the peace of the outdoors. After graduating from high school, Hubert joined the United States Navy in 1950, serving a tour of 4 years, as a Yeoman, working in with the mechanics/engine division. Hubert attended Georgia State College in Atlanta, Georgia after leaving the Navy. He was a long time employee of Delta Airlines, starting a long career with them in 1954. He worked in the engine production control department, reaching the position of Senior Supervisor in Engine Production Control. Hubert retired from Delta Airlines after a long career of 30 years in 1985. Having kept the love for the outdoors in his heart, when Hubert retired, he bought a small farm in Newnan, Georgia. He enjoyed his time growing and harvesting hay on his farm, spending his free time fishing in the pond. Always a man that enjoyed his friends and family, Hubert was host to countless fish fries and BBQ’s. Hubert had a smile and handshake for everyone he met, always bringing a joy, a laugh and light with him. A giving heart and a spirit to help others, Hubert was a great blessing to many people there and in the many places that his life took him around the world. A sports fan that enjoyed football, baseball and NASCAR, he also engaged with all the spirited debate of what team was best and whose team was certain to lose that comes with sports fans. Not one to sit still, Hubert and his wife JoAnne were avid travelers and enjoyed many trips together, innumerable cities, destinations, making new friends and seeing the world around them. Hubert’s homecoming brought him into the embrace of those that preceded his passing. His parents Grover W. and Maude V. Wright, his grandparents Edith M. and Floyd Wright, Elizabeth (Betsie) Wright a spouse taken by cancer many years previous and also his sister Delores Price. Hubert’s spirit will be carried on and remembered by many beloved family members and friends. He is survived by his wonderful loving wife of more than 14 years, JoAnne Wright, their children Michele Grignot and her husband Paul, of Panama City, Florida, son Griff Doster and his wife Amy, of Gray, Georgia, their grandchildren Joshua Rogers and his wife Angela, Jennifer Owen and her husband Will, all from Panama City, Florida, Brittany and Banks Doster, of Gray, Georgia, his sisters Carol Sanders, Candi Covell of Orlando Florida, Karen Sheets and her husband Bob of McDonough, Georgia, his brother Mark Wright also in Orlando, Florida. Hubert will also be missed and greatly thought of by many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation services will be Sunday, August 11th . 2013 at McKoon Funeral Home, from 6pm to 8 pm in Newnan, Georgia. A funeral service will be held in honor of Hubert’s heading home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 12th. 2013 at 11:00 AM, at Born Again Ministries, in Newnan Georgia. A graveside side service will be held at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Newnan Georgia, following the funeral services.
