Naomi Haney Worsham

Naomi Worsham, 93, received her reward for a life well lived Sunday, November 27, 2016 as she entered the gates of Heaven. Born July 21, 1923 in Centre, Alabama to the late James & Cora Haney, Naomi spent her childhood years with 7 brothers and sisters learning about life on the farm. In her words “They played outdoors, helped bring in the crops and while they didn’t have much money, they always had a roof over their head and plenty of good food to eat, even in the winter. They were happy and healthy, but especially happy when daddy would bring them candy from town.” She was married at the age of 16 to Stanton Sparks, with whom she had two children. And later in life found love again when she married Otis Worsham and gained three more children to love. All of these children together blessed her with 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, completing the family she once thought she might never have. No doubt, there are also hundreds of “adopted” kids and grandkids that she loved as her own, who loved her just the same in return. She was a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly for over 75 years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening, reading, talking and laughing with friends, collecting thimbles, watching hummingbirds, going to church, serving the lord and showing love to everyone she came in contact with. She will be greatly missed by all who loved, admired and adored the strong, beautiful woman she was. Naomi was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Worsham, her parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and a granddaughter, Donna Duke. She is survived by her daughter and son in-law, Kathy and Donnie Duke of Newnan, GA; son, Michael Joel Sparks of San Francisco, CA; step-son and daughter in-law Randy and Janis Worsham of Cedartown, GA; step-daughter, Dot Knight of Cedartown, GA; step-son Jimmy Worsham of Centre, AL; 14 Grandchildren: Amanda, Misty, Emily, Jeremy, Courtney, Nikki, Ernie, David, Sherry, Scotty, Tiffany, Reggie, Jeanna, Jimmy Dean and their spouses; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from The Church of God of the Union Assembly, 3821 Hwy 34 W, Newnan, GA 30263. The Reverends Jesse W.
